Restylane & Perlane
Since 1996, physicians outside the U.S. have used these agents to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips, to contour and restore volume to the skin, and to temporarily eliminate wrinkles and facial folds. These non-animal, biotechnology-produced, crystal-clear, biodegradable gels are hyaluronic acid substances normally found in the skin. Each is injected through a tiny needle to produce a long-lasting, safe and natural enhancement.

Restylane and Perlane are formulated as clear gels and use a dual mechanism of action. Upon being injected beneath the skin's surface, the gels add natural volume and lift the skin to smooth out wrinkles and folds. Each substance is integrated into dermal tissue which then attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume. Restylane and Perlane are gradually degraded by the body's own mechanisms.
No allergy testing is required and most individuals can undergo these procedures.
Results can be seen immediately following the treatment and can last six months or longer. Perlane is a larger molecule than Restylane and can result in even more enhancement for a longer duration of time.
These agents have a proven track record for long-lasting effects and safety in more than one million procedures worldwide. Side effects are seen in about 1 in 2000 cases, and consist of localized swelling at the site of injection, redness, tenderness, and even rarer is an acne-like formation at the injection site, lasting for a few days to weeks. The specific risks and the suitability of these procedures for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally.
Most patients have no down time. Others may be overcorrected for the first couple of days. Patients usually return to normal activity the same day as the treatment.
Many individuals will desire a local anesthetic prior to the treatment.

Fat Transfer, "Microlipoinjection"
Fat transfer or "micro-lipo-injection" is a century-old technique of transferring fat from one body area to another. Fat transfer is helpful for both cosmetic and reconstructive purposes. Often referred to as surgical "sculpting," the process is used to replace the loss of fat which occurs underneath the skin in association with the aging process. The duration of the contour correction varies from patient to patient. While improvement is most often long lasting and permanent, follow-up injections may be necessary. Our Staff is able to freeze the harvested fat for up to one year so that patients may return on their lunch hour for a quick touch up, if required.

The areas from which fat is to be removed and injected are cleansed and numbed with a local anesthetic. Using a tiny needle and syringe, the fat is extracted through a small 1-2 mm incision from the abdomen, buttocks or thigh areas. After centrifugation and separation, the purified fat is injected into the lips or other areas.
No allergy testing needed. Almost anyone can undergo these procedures.
Immediate results that last one to 2 years or longer.
Fat transfer is considered a safe and effective procedure as one's own fat is used, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions
Patients usually resume normal activity the day of surgery. Some patients will have minor swelling depending upon the amount of fat transferred.
Swelling, soreness and bruising is possible, but unusual.
Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, naprosyn for 2 weeks before the procedure.
Avoid blood thinners for a few days after the procedure.

UltraSoftform Lip Implants
UltraSoftform facial implant is a soft, tube-shaped implant made of a biocompatible polymer called ePTFE, similar to Gore-Tex though softer, and has been safely used for more than 20 years in a variety of medical applications including blood vessel replacement and hernia repair. Placing this permanent implant beneath the skin can dramatically enhance one's appearance by providing structure and support underneath the skin.

The UltraSoftform implant procedure is performed in a simple in-office procedure done under local anesthetic. The implant is inserted beneath the skin via two tiny incisions. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes. The implant provides a very natural and long lasting result because it is not absorbed or broken down by the body over time, yet it can be removed if desired. The tubular shape of the implant allows for tissue in-growth which helps stabilize the implant in place.
Most patients with moderately deep marionette lines, atrophic, thin and aged lips can benefit from this treatment.
Enhanced, fuller lips, more youthful lower face and smile.
UltraSoftform facial implant is a safe and effective treatment. The risk of infection or extrusion is very small. The specific risks and the suitability of these procedures for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
You may experience some swelling or bruising which lasts for a few days to a week following treatment. Many patients return to normal activities a day or two after treatment. Five to seven days after implantation most of the swelling will subside.
Lidocaine is used to numb the treated area.
Avoid blood thinners for 2 weeks before treatment.
A stitch is placed at each incision site and is removed in 3-5 days. Icing of the treated areas helps to reduce swelling.

Radiesse
Radiesse is a long-term, non-surgical lip augmentation method that lasts for approximately two to seven years, making it an impressive approach for lip augmentation. Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxylapatite, a constituent of tooth and bone, and is formulated into microspheres suspended in an aqueous polysaccharide gel which has been FDA approved for soft tissue augmentation and other medical uses. This 10 minute treatment is reasonably comfortable, and offers no downtime with immediate results.

Radiesse comes in a small syringe, similar to collagen. It injected below the surface of the skin in the fatty layer, adding fullness lips, depressed scars, wrinkles and marionette lines or folds. Calcium hydroxylapatite creates a lattice scaffolding which supports the in-growth of soft tissue, resulting in tissue augmentation and enhancement.
Anyone desiring an augmentation procedure.
Immediate, lasting two to seven years.
In general, calcium hydroxylapatite has safely been used in the body for many applications including dental applications (where bone build-up is needed for reconstruction), as well as for cosmetic implant procedures for the chin, cheeks, and jaw areas. Radiesse is manufactured to be similar to the body's own tissue, and thus there is no need for allergy testing. The specific risks and the suitability of these procedures for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally.
It is normal for some patients to experience some pinkness or swelling at the injection site, lasting two to three hours.
Some individuals will require an anesthetic injection to prevent pain.

Collagen
Zyderm® and Zyplast® collagen implants have been available in the U.S. since 1981 and 1985, respectively. Both products are implanted intradermally through a fine gauge needle into the facial areas to enhance lip size, reduce marionette lines (depressions between the corners of the mouth and nose), reduce wrinkles, and scars. This 20 minute in-office procedure can be performed at the lunch hour with most patients returning to their normal routine immediately following the procedure. Treatments add to the skin's natural collagen, and more than one million people in 40 countries have been treated with Zyderm® or Zyplast® collagen implants.

One month before the procedure, a test implant is placed into the forearm area to determine if a patient has sensitivity to the implants. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of men and women tested can be treated with Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants. Most patients choose treatments twice a year to preserve the look that is desired. Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants are produced in various formulations, which are appropriate for different facial areas and conditions.
